A strong performance across all classes showing a depth of breeding, culminated with Willandra Merinos winning the most successful medium wool exhibitor trophy.
A ewe lamb, Blk 035, led the way winning her Lamb’s teeth strong wool march shorn class. From there she went on to win the following; Champion March Shorn Strong Wool Merino Ewe, Junior Champion Strong Wool Merino Ewe, Reserve Champion March Shorn Merino, Reserve Champion Strong Wool Merino Ewe and Reserve Grand Champion Strong Wool Ewe of the Show. Blk 035 is a daughter of a Woodyarrup ram.
Blk 031, a daughter of “Willandra D 030”, won her 2 tooth strong wool March shorn class and went on to be Reserve Champion March Shorn Strong Wool Poll Ewe.
Blk 102, a “Desmond” daughter from our ET program, was 2nd in the 2 tooth March shorn medium wool poll ewe class. Then Reserve Champion March Shorn Medium Wool Poll Ewe.
Blk 049, another “Desmond” daughter from our ET program, was 2nd in the 2 tooth March shorn fine/medium wool class. Then Reserve Champion March Shorn Fine/Medium Wool Poll Ewe.
Blk 022, a “Desmond” son, was 2nd in the 4 tooth March shorn fine/medium wool poll ram class.
Blk 005, another “Desmond” son from our ET program, was 3rd in the Medium 2 tooth class for the Australian Merino All Purpose Ram. His vital statistics included a BWT of 108.5kg, EMD of 41mm, fat cover of 7mm, FD of 17.6 mic. and CF of 99.8%, 1.5 points off 1st place.
Blk 001, a son of “Willandra D 030” who attracted considerable interest from observers, was 2nd in his Lambs teeth strong wool March shorn poll Ram class.
Blk 013, a horned son of “Kim” (a One Oak ram sold by Willandra to Kim Henderson, Grogansworth Merinos, Bowning), was 1st in the unhoused medium wool ram class. He went on to be the Champion Unhoused Medium Wool Ram then he won the Grand Champion Unhoused Merino Ram and “Marion Gibbins Trophy”.
Blk 018, a horned son of a Lachlan Merino ram was 1st in the unhoused strong wool ram class. He went on to be the Champion Unhoused Strong Wool Ram then he won the Reserve Grand Champion Unhoused Merino Ram and “Marion Gibbins Trophy”.
“Willandra Federer” was 2nd in the 4 tooth August Shorn Fine Wool Poll Ram.
“Willandra Serena” was 3rd in the 6 tooth August Shorn Medium Wool Ewe Class.
As a combination Federer and Serena were NSW’s representative in the National Pair, going down to the WA pair and the reserve pair of Victoria.
Blk 018 and Blk 035 were paired together to be the Reserve team in the “National March Shorn Pair” sponsored by “Riverina Wool” of Moama.
Last but not least. The only fleece entered by Willandra in the fleece section was 5th in its class and earned a “Highly Commended” Ribbon.
