Angus Heath holding Riverina Ewe of the Year, Deniliquin 2022
On 12 August 2022, Willandra was awarded the 2022 Riverina Ewe of the Year for their 4th consecutive year.
This class was judged by Russell Jones, Darriwell Stud in Trundle, NSW who cited the ewe to display excellent wool and very good lineage.
This ewe also took home the Reserve Champion in the Medium Wool Poll section at the ASBA Bendigo Show in July 2022.
Willandra is a family owned business with a long history of success. The original Willandra Merino Stud was established west of Hillston, NSW, in 1886 and was based on Wanganella F. No. 83 and Tasmanian bloodlines believed to be from Belle Vue.
In 1974, the Willandra Stud was purchased by the Wells family and moved to Jerilderie where they have proudly continued the tradition of breeding hardy, well-balanced fertile sheep carrying big fleeces of quality wool. Keeping abreast of current marketing and production trends and continuing to develop and improve the modern Willandra Merino bloodstock is of paramount importance.
