Semen Sires | Willandra Merino Stud

Semen Sires

Australia Wide Proven Sires

Semen from Willandra sires have had a large impact across the stud industry in Australia and beyond with semen selling to all states and overseas. Progeny can be seen winning classes at all the leading interstate shows. Several sires are represented and performing well in Sire Evaluation Sites across four states. The sires are noted for producing progeny that fill the bales with high quality white wool. In recent years attention has been paid to reducing micron and improving structure, eye muscle and fat. Moving towards a plainer, easier care sheep without sacrificing too much wool cut has been the aim and is the challenge.

Sires Histories

A Long Tradition - A Modern Success

ABOUT WILLANDRA

#Image Willandra is a family owned business with a long history of success. The original Willandra Merino Stud was established west of Hillston, NSW, in 1886 and was based on Wanganella F. No. 83 and Tasmanian bloodlines believed to be from Belle Vue.

In 1974, the Willandra Stud was purchased by the Wells family and moved to Jerilderie where they have proudly continued the tradition of breeding hardy, well-balanced fertile sheep carrying big fleeces of quality wool. Keeping abreast of current marketing and production trends and continuing to develop and improve the modern Willandra Merino bloodstock is of paramount importance.
