Bendigo 2023 Best Exhibit of Three

The stud team had a very successful showing at the 2023 ASBA Sheep and Wool Show in Bendigo. Along with five Champion sheep they also won the Group of Three Sheep (one ram and two ewes) and the Overall Most Successful Exhibitor in the highly contested Medium Wool Section. The team leader was WIL220059 an embryo bred sire with a blue blood pedigree on both sides. His sire Willandra Impact 170018 has been successfully used by a number of studs across Australia and has sired many top priced On-Property rams. Semen is available from this exciting new young sire.

The stud believes the challenge of showing sheep, coming under the scrutiny of a wide variety of judges and stud people from all states, assists in the breeding of all-round quality rams for the industry.

Willandra is a family owned business with a long history of success. The original Willandra Merino Stud was established west of Hillston, NSW, in 1886 and was based on Wanganella F. No. 83 and Tasmanian bloodlines believed to be from Belle Vue.

In 1974, the Willandra Stud was purchased by the Wells family and moved to Jerilderie where they have proudly continued the tradition of breeding hardy, well-balanced fertile sheep carrying big fleeces of quality wool. Keeping abreast of current marketing and production trends and continuing to develop and improve the modern Willandra Merino bloodstock is of paramount importance.
