The top priced ram was sold to George Simpson, Yooroobla Stud, Jerilderie. The ram, Lot 19, was an AI son of renowned industry sire Yarrawonga 170193 Horn. Mr Simpson bought three rams by the same sire and will syndicate join them to start a new sire line at his stud. He said they were good sheep with white wool and the size and structure he was looking for. The ram weighed 107kg with 19.5 micron wool, 6mm Fat and 42mm EMI.

The second top price of $7,000 was paid by Andrew and Heather Turnbull, Tambo, Queensland, for a poll ram by WIL447, a son of Wallaloo Park 422. “These are heavy cutting sheep with bulk and frame and the right nourishment in the wool for our country” Mr Turnbull said. ‘The wool is bold and there is plenty of it with very good structure under the fleece.” Duncan Fraser, Hay, paid equal second top price for a poll ram.

Volume buyers this year include Merri Merri, Coonamble (16 at $3,187 av), Sleigh Pastoral Co, Jerilderie (13 at $2,826 av) and JW and J Caldwell, Young (11 at $3,795 av).
