“It’s Not All About Sheep!!” $3,400 Winning Bid

Prior to the 44th Annual Ram Sale, the book written by Ross Wells “It’s Not All About Sheep!!” was launched by Stephen Burns of The Land newspaper.

The No. 1 copy of the limited edition book was auctioned by Nutrien’s Ron Rutledge. Bidding was frantic with the book being purchased for $3,400 by Geoff and Dianne Peters, “Ballatherie”, Hillston – with all proceeds of the No. 1 book being donated to Cystic Fibrosis.

Before the auction it was announced that Nutrien Finley and Elders Jerilderie had each donated $1,000 to the Charity. Later the Yanco Delta Wind Farm donated $1,000 as well. 125 books were sold on the day.

Willandra is a family owned business with a long history of success. The original Willandra Merino Stud was established west of Hillston, NSW, in 1886 and was based on Wanganella F. No. 83 and Tasmanian bloodlines believed to be from Belle Vue.

In 1974, the Willandra Stud was purchased by the Wells family and moved to Jerilderie where they have proudly continued the tradition of breeding hardy, well-balanced fertile sheep carrying big fleeces of quality wool.
